About us
My name is Allan Christensen, and I love to travel. Even as a child, I travelled to the Canary Islands several times with my family, but only once to Tenerife. Like many others on package holidays, we stayed on the south coast at Playa de las Americas, which is a fantastic area for family holidays.
However, Tenerife offers so much more than that. It is not entirely wrong when the island’s tourist board markets Tenerife as ‘The Island of 1000 Experiences’ or in Spanish La isla de las 1000 experiencias. There are many experiences awaiting you in Tenerife, and many different kinds of experiences. Very fascinating, and something I have enjoyed on my many trips to this wonderful island.
One experience I can return to again and again is the Teide volcano. With its highest point at 3,718 metres above sea level, Teide is not only the highest point in the Canary Islands, but the highest point in the whole of Spain. Other great nature experiences are the Barranco del Infierno (Canyon of Hell) and Barranco del Masca gorges. When I visit such natural wonders, my camera is my best friend.

Yet it is probably the beaches that fascinate me the most – and I spend a lot of time exploring them. To me, there is something very special about the almost completely black lava beaches, which over time have been formed by lava that has been broken down by the sun, wind and especially water. Perhaps the most beautiful example is Playa el Bollullo, located just east of Tenerife’s first holiday resort, Puerto de la Cruz.
When I think of beaches and swimming opportunities in Tenerife, I also think of Piscinas naturales. This can be translated into English as “natural pools”, and that is exactly what they are. Pools that are naturally surrounded by cliffs. One of my favourites is Piscinas El Caletón in the town of Garachico.
When I am in Tenerife, I also love to visit some of the many charming villages on the island. Towns such as Garachico, Masca and La Laguna provide an insight into the island’s history, culture and authentic Canarian lifestyle. La Laguna has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered the cultural centre of Tenerife.
With my experiences, photos and videos from my many trips to Tenerife, I started this website in 2014. Here I can combine my interests in travelling, writing, photography, filming and building websites. I have taken most of the photos myself, and all the videos have been recorded and edited by me.
My photography equipment is not particularly advanced, but it is possible to carry it in my hand luggage. In recent years, I have also had a mini drone with me, which I fly wherever possible and legal.
