Las Teresitas

Las Teresitas can be found a mere eight kilometres northeast of Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife.

Las Teresitas beach
Many people consider Las Teresitas the best beach in northern Tenerife, but we think that this wonderful palm beach is the best beach on the entire island.

The 1.5 km stretch of sand is located in a curved bay protected by the Anaga mountains. The golden sand was imported from the Sahara back in the 1970s. The beach is dotted with gorgeous palm trees that give Las Teresitas a wonderful, tropical appearance, especially thanks to the contrast of the turquoise water.

An artificial reef spans the entire length of the beach a short distance from shore. This keeps the waters calm regardless of the direction of the wind, so guests never need to worry about currents and waves.

Las Teresitas is equipped with the most important amenities, including sun loungers, parasols, showers, and toilets. There are even lifeguards on duty during the high season. The beach has a tendency to fill up in the weekends, so if you can, plan to visit on a weekday.

Child-friendliness
The soft sand and the shallow, calm waters make Las Teresitas the perfect destination for families with children. With a bit of luck, the older kids will be able to find new friends on the two beach volley courts.

Water sports
The crystal-clear water means that the conditions are perfect for snorkelling. There’s a good chance of seeing fish, including colourful ones, out by the cliffs and the artificial reef.

Beachside restaurants
There is a selection of good beach bars, the so-called chiringuitos, behind the beach, where you can find refreshments, sandwiches, etc. Those wanting a better selection can head to the village of San Andrés on the southern end of the beach.

Nearby holiday resorts
Las Teresitas is far away from the holiday destinations on Tenerife, but Santa Cruz, the capital of the island, is only eight kilometres away, so that’s where a lot of the beachgoers come from. In the morning, the beach is popular with the locals who come out to swim in the calm waters.

Tourists flock here from all over the island, including the big holiday destinations on the south coast. A lot of people just have to experience this famous beach, and they’re happy to drive 85 km from Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos to do so. And it’s worth the trip!
